NEW COMPUTER SETUP

Buying a new desktop, laptop or tablet? Feel confident in your purchase with advice on what specification to suit your requirements and recommendations of where to buy from. Once purchased we can help you with email account setup, transferring photos, documents, music from your old computer to your new, downloading the latest Windows or macOS updates plus antivirus and anti-malware software will be downloaded and installed for you to ensure your machine is protected. Any unwanted trial software can also be removed, then you are good to go knowing you have everything in place and peace of mind.

DATA RECOVERY

So your data has gone? Don’t stress, don’t panic there are things we can do to help. If you don’t have a backup of your files and your desktop computer or laptop has broken and doesn’t start-up, there are various processes we can go through to try and recover your files. Any retrieved files can be copied onto your new computer or other back up devices to minimise the risk of this happening again. We can also advise you as to how best to avoid this problem in the future with simple back up strategies.

VIRUS & MALWARE REMOVAL

Receiving annoying pop-ups or your hard drive is constantly working away? These are just a few of the signs that your computer could be infected with spyware. They can silently infect whilst trying to steal your passwords, credit card numbers, and your identity. Specialist tools will be used to remove them, and an antivirus product recommended to keep you safe in the future if you do not have one already.

MAINTENANCE & SERVICE

It’s amazing how much dust, fluff and pet hair your computer’s fans suck into the machine, blocking air vents and clogging up the fans, it’s important to clean it internally annually. Laptops that are used regularly may need to be cleaned more often to prevent overheating. As part of our maintenance or service, the antivirus software is checked, the event log checked for any errors that have so far gone undiscovered, and the Windows or macOS updates are brought up-to-date. Problems with a Windows 10 update? This can also be resolved.

Struggling with good wireless connection?

CALL US ON 07885 966 570

Getting a good wireless signal throughout your property can often be difficult without additional access points or boosters. AR Computer Repairs can help set this up for you.

NEW OPERATING SYSTEM

The speed your computer operates can slow down over time because of the increase in software, plugins, adware and malware that gets installed over time. Viruses can also cause irreparable damage to system files. Sometimes your computer would be better off with a re-install rather than a repair. This service includes a full back up, hard drive re formatted, and the operating system reinstalled. After re-installing Windows or macOS, all the latest updates and service packs will be installed whilst data is preserved. Customers often comment that their computer now runs faster than when it was new – the ultimate compliment!

UPGRADES

Upgrading certain components is a great way to extend the life of your machine for a few more years without investing in a new one. Installing more memory, a new hard drive, or a new video card can speed up your system. The biggest upgrade for a surge of performance is to install a SSD (solid-state drive). SSDs are a new generation of storage device used in computers. SSDs replace traditional mechanical hard disks by using flash-based memory, which is significantly faster. Older hard-disk storage technologies run slower, which often makes your computer run slower than it should. SSDs speed up computers significantly due to their low read-access times and fast throughputs. If you are already having a reinstall of the operating system, it is the ideal time to consider upgrading to an SSD.

TRAINING

If you are new to using a computer (or tablet, smartphone etc) and are not sure how to get started, guidance can be provided. Alternatively, if you are already using a computer and have a list of specific things you would like to learn, get in touch. All training is done one to one on your computer at a pace that suits you.

NETWORKING

Many devices in our home now require a network connection, some by cable and some wireless. It is often difficult to get a good wireless signal throughout the property unless additional access points or boosters are put in place. Your current setup will be assessed to check the signal strength in the locations that you need it, advice given on how this could be improved and installation of any upgrades necessary for you.
